Abstract

Islamic education plays a significant role in the formation of students' character in schools, aiming to cultivate a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also moral and virtuous. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic education in shaping students' character within the formal educational environment. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, gathering data through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The findings indicate that Islamic education significantly contributes to the development of character values such as honesty, discipline, empathy, and responsibility in students. The implementation of Islamic teachings, both in religious lessons and extracurricular activities, has been proven to improve students' mindset and behavior. Moreover, the role of religious teachers as good role models is crucial in providing examples and motivating students to apply Islamic teachings in their daily lives. This study concludes that the integration of Islamic education into the school curriculum can serve as a strong foundation for shaping students' good character, enabling them to grow into responsible and virtuous individuals within society.
